Grass Valley, incorporated in 1860, is a City Northeast of Sacramento, California. Known for its luscious vegetation, it was named after gold miners who sought out a "grassy valley." The City was a booming mining town during the California gold rush and produce gold well into the 1950's. Although the gold mines have now been abandoned, the city residents still take great pride in their cultural history and heritage.
